Double Feature #1: 'Slap Shot'/'Used Cars'

This first double-feature is not very obscure (or shouldn't be, if you love great comedy), but fit together perfectly. Slap Shot and Used Cars are raunchy, ballsy, foul-mouthed comedies from talented directors (one established in George Roy Hill, one on the rise in Robert Zemeckis) celebrating the fine art of lying. And not just little lies - BIG lies. Lying-your-goddamn-ass-off-because-your-life-depends-on-it lies. Lying because sometimes it's the moral choice. Outrageous, bawdy, fearless. You couldn't make either of these films today. Plug 'em in sometime - you'll laugh more in one night than in the last ten years watching what passes for 'film comedy' these days.
