My Award-Winning Play! Shut Up, It Is So.

Okay, so maybe that picture's just a teensy bit misleading.
I did indeed write a one-act play entitled Reunion.
It did indeed win an award.
It did not win the Pulitzer. I like to think that's only because the Pulitzer committee didn't happen to pass through town during the run.
My friend Annella Faye was set to direct and appear in one of the one-act plays scheduled for a yearly competition at a local theatre (support local theatre, by the way). Unhappy with the plays she was told to select from, she called and asked it I could write a play for her. You don't say no to a sweetheart like Annella, so I didn't. Say no, that is. I did write the play.
I sat down that night and hammered this sucker out in 90 minutes - which includes having to re-write the entire first third from memory when Final Draft locked up on me. What was presented on stage, and I am presenting here, is largely unchanged from that first blort of creativity. (At Annella's suggestion, I changed the timing of a gunshot. She was right, it's much better where it is now.)
The play was presented in a competition with other one-acts, with the audience casting votes each night for their favorite. Thanks to Annella's direction and the performances by her and Sharon Kloosterman we were fortunate to come out on top.
Which means I am indeed an award-winning playwright. Suck it, Pulitzer committee.
